ARGO-HYTOS Renovates School Building in Kaliannanpudhur, India
Education is the foundation of a better future. That is why ARGO-HYTOS is committed to supporting projects that create lasting value for people and communities as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
One recent example is the comprehensive renovation of a school building at the Government Higher Secondary School in Kaliannanpudhur, near Coimbatore, located just a few kilometers from our Indian production site. The government-run school provides education for approximately 550 students from Grades 6 to 12 and plays an important role in serving the surrounding rural communities.
A Building in Urgent Need of Renovation
One of the school's six academic blocks, originally constructed in 1968, had significantly deteriorated over the years. The roof had been severely damaged by age and weather, while the wooden beams and roof tiles had become unstable, posing a safety risk to students and teachers alike. The floors, doors, windows, and technical infrastructure no longer met the standards required for a safe and modern learning environment. Outside the building, uneven ground and exposed tree roots made access difficult, particularly during the rainy season.
Following a request from the school's management, ARGO-HYTOS decided to undertake the complete renovation of the building, helping to create a safer and more inspiring place for students to learn.
Comprehensive Modernization
The renovation project included:
- Complete replacement of the roof with a new steel structural framework and durable UPVC roofing sheets
- Replacement of damaged wooden doors and windows with robust steel doors and windows
- Installation of new vitrified tile flooring throughout the interior and exterior of the building
- Complete interior and exterior refurbishment, including painting
- Upgrading of the electrical and plumbing systems
- Construction of a paved entrance area to provide safe and convenient access
In total, four classrooms and one electrical panel room were fully renovated within a building measuring approximately 115 × 30 feet. In addition, a 115 × 40-foot paved area was constructed in front of the building.
Creating Lasting Impact
The renovation was completed in June 2026 with a total investment of INR 2.5 million. What was once an ageing and deteriorating school building has been transformed into a modern, safe, and welcoming learning environment.
The project not only improves everyday learning conditions for today's students but also creates a sustainable educational space for future generations. It reflects ARGO-HYTOS' commitment to taking social responsibility and making a meaningful contribution to community development by investing where the future begins: in education.
We were delighted to officially hand over the newly renovated school building to the school community during a beautiful inauguration ceremony, and we wish all students every success and an inspiring learning experience in their new environment.
